    Sarah,
My husband and I were not there on Mother’s Day, so we had missed your message. I took the opportunity this evening to listen. On so many fronts I could relate to things you said. My mother was a quiet woman, but also mighty. She loved to move or “rearrange” our furniture on what seemed like a monthly basis. If you had to get up during the night, you definitely needed to turn on a light. My mother always preferred to stay in the background, out of the limelight, as she served others. She was also the rock in our home. She was a Godly woman, and all of her children feel blessed. As far as her children, I was the “handful” or “strong willed” child. I was the one that received notes from school about talking too much, and getting into mischief. I am thankful that my mother never gave up on me. I know she prayed for her family on a daily basis, as I found a note to that context in her desk drawer, after she passed away. The note that she had written, talked about interceding for her children and grandchildren. It also referred to one of her favorite verses which was, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (This verse she had inscribed on the grave marker before her passing.) I know that my mother’s greatest desire, far beyond any fortune or fame, was that her children and grandchildren would forever walk in the ways of the Lord. Because my mother served, her example showed me how to serve. Then when my husband and I had a child, I was able to lead and teach her in ways to serve. I am thankful that my daughter, and her husband have chosen to serve the Lord and others. This brings my mind back to the old song that we used to sing in Sunday School which talked about “Jesus, and Others, and You, what a wonderful way to spell Joy!” It reminds us to keep things in the correct perspective. If we do, we will be a blessing, and we will also be blessed!” Thank you for taking the time to remind us of our purpose once again. You did a wonderful job!
